The most wonderfully put together spaces are inspired by the things you love—everything from your favorite color to a wonderful trip you took. I could tell you that designers have a really complex process that they go through to create a great space, but the truth is that it's all about honing in on the obvious and then running with it!
Case in point, I have a friend that thrives on city life, loves to be organized and appreciates the luxury of a hotel, so for her I would prescribe a comfortable, yet fuss-free space. A leather sofa and plush rug provide that sense of luxury as do a neutral color palette with splashes of teal and chartreuse. To keep things clutter-free, smart storage options like a console table and storage ottoman should do the trick.
And then there’s my other friend who’s happiest when she’s deep into a hike, with Mother Nature as her sole companion. To make her feel at one with nature, I’d choose a muted, earthy palette with shots of spring green to keep things interesting, comfy, durable fabrics that welcome friends and animals alike chunky, solid furniture.
